‘Charles Wheatstone’s Last Days, Fualeral Services and Legacy’ 18 Oct 2025 – The Stereoscopy Blog

Denis Pellerin, from the Brian May stereoscopic archive, provides online 3-D talks online to commemorate the Polymath genius and stereoscopic inventor, Sir Charles Wheatstone, near the 150-year commemoration of his death. Eventbrite registration can be found at the end of this post.

“One Hundred and Fifty Years ago, on 19 October 1875, the inventor of the stereoscope, Charles Wheatstone Dired in a Paris Hotel Room with a Few Friends and His Family at His Side. To Celebrate The Anniversary of His Death, Photo Historian Denis Pellerin, From Archive of Stereoscopy, will take you on a journey back in time and tell you about sir charles’ last days and functioning services before examination is left a century and a half later to remember this brilliant man, polymath whose main purpose is to create things that can have practical applications.

Note: Registration will open on Saturday 27 September 2025 in the middle of the day and close on October 17 at the middle of the day.

The conversation will not be recorded and will use a stereoscopic pair side by side. There will be a flat picture too because many documents are presented unfortunately not in stereo but this will also be displayed by the side.

Lornenette 3-D (Owls, Loreo), Mirror viewers (Berezin, NVP3D) or Prisma Glasses (Berezin, NVP3D) will be needed to see images in depth. If you need help by looking at Figure 3-D online, please see this post.
