The Royal Photographic Society’s (RPS) Visual Arts Group held a day of presentations at their Rollright meeting with an afternoon session, given by Stereoscopy Archives curators Brian May, Denis Pellerin and Rebecca Sharpe, on ‘Visual Arts in the Stereoscope: An Overview’.

We have two great presentations lined up for you at the next Rollright meeting, on November 22, at Long Compton Village Hall.

Morning Session: 10.00 to 12.35: Dr. Nicholas QuickR

We welcome Dr. Nicholas Posner, a retired general practitioner who also works as a portrait photographer specializing in Politicians and Celebrities.

His work is held by the National Portrait Gallery, and he agreed to come and share his experiences with us.

Afternoon Session: 14.00 to 16.30: ‘Visual Arts in Stereoscopes: An Overview’lectures and 3-D workshops given by Brian May Stereoscopy Archives.

We are honored to have Denis Pellerin, a distinguished photo historian, researcher, author and lecturer. He is also one of the curators of the Brian May Stereoscopic Archives and one of the directors of Sir Brian May’s London Stereoscopic Company. The lecture will introduce stereoscopy and its use in the visual arts, including examining sculpture, painting, architecture, fashion, and design in stereoscopes.

We look forward to more knowledgeable and reputable international experts to introduce us to this fascinating segment of the world of photography.

As if that weren’t enough, Denis will be accompanied by another curator and archivist from the Brian May Stereoscopic Archives, Rebecca Sharpe ARPS, who will bring a ‘handling collection’ for a closer examination of stereo viewing and capturing equipment, demonstrating various ways of photographing stereoscopic images, including digital and analogue, presenting and viewing the results.

This meeting will be held at RPS Visual Arts Group Rollright venue – Long Compton Village Hall, and is open to everyone. Doors open from 9am and start at 10am, with welcome drinks starting at 9.30am.

This meeting is charged to £10.00 and can be paid via the RPS Event Website or cash at the door.
