It’s been a while since I last wrote an article for this blog, but I thought I’d put those 150 articles to good use.th commemoration of the death of Sir Charles Wheatstone, inventor of the Stereoscope, to make up for lost time and wrote a long article about a rather special and rarely mentioned use of Stereoscopy. I’ve been wanting to write this article for a long time and while there is definitely room for improvement and expansion (it would take an entire book to cover this subject properly), I hope the following .pdf will give readers of this blog some sort of overview of the history of advertising in stereoscopes and some ideas about what to look for if they are interested in digging deeper.
Of course there is still a lot I want to say, but time is of the essence because I have 19 goalsth October as the deadline. Plus, if there ever comes a book (either physical or digital), I need to save some of the material and some of the illustrations for it!
If you have suggestions on things I didn’t mention, please send me an email.
I’m sure dozens of “experts” will emerge in this field in the near future. This happens every time I publish a book or article because it is definitely easier for some people to “pin” someone’s work and take all the credit than to do their own research and give credit to the original author. Some people make it a full-time career! As Wheatstone knows all too well.
